Is it My Fault
Jul. 21st, 2009 | 04:30 pm
Well my game takes place in the 1920's. 1927 to be exact. And I've had one player whose charecters have died 6 times. He'll be on his 7th charecter, and I am curious if I am to blame for it all. So here is the list and please give me your thoughts.
1. Mage Survivalist
This guy was a time mage, meaning he manipulated time. He got infactuated with one of the female charecters that another player played. So, he tried to manipulate the old woman who lived next door to her. (NPC) And decided that wooing and having naked old people sex (He was 19) wasn't quick enough to get close to her. So, he tried to murder the old woman. She happened to be a werewolf (Decided before he started wooing.) and ate him. So that was that charecter dead.
2. Human Detective
The group got stuck in a time loop where they were killed by a ton of rednecks inside a Japanese mining town about 50 years in the past. They kept getting massacred by the group. Deciding that their blind innkeeper was the culprit. (She was, but his solution didn't work.) He shot her in the head to end the loop. In WOD you have to roll a derangement roll when you break a moral code. He failed the morality check, and then botched the derangement. SO he got EXTREME paranoia. And he tried to kill his team members. Well, after a few botched attempts at that he ran into the woods. And right into the waiting rednecks. That alerted the town and allowed for the others to end the loop. However, it meant that his charecter stayed dead.
3. Changeling Doctor
This charecter was the longest lasting member as he was useful to the group and lasted the longest. The game helps cause derangements in individuals and slowly his sanity was eroded. That lead to him talking to a True Fae and being killed by a party member who despised Fae and traitors to them.
4. Female Werewolf
The female werewolf was a good fighter, and belonged well with the group. She just had a bad temper and one day got called ugly once too often and punched another charecter in the face. Killing them, and ran away.
5. Human Salesman
The only one I actively fucked over. A human, he'd been captured by Slashers (Think Jason.) and was being marinated in a tub while the others were fighting. They happened to have a 6 year old boy, who also happened to be a Slasher (Genius type, think a 6 year old Hannibal Lector) and was framed for murder. While DNA would ahve cleared him, it was 1928 and so while doubt on his guilt was made, it was left to how good the lawyer was. His defending attorny got a 5/10. Pretty good. The proscecuter was a 10/10. Ergo a loss in the court and he went to jail. He later escaped, but is on the lam with three female Bonnies.
6. Vampire Spy
I'll go to the main one, he saw the psychic girl with a split personality being lead off by another charecter. He watched him play ball with teh girl and then kill her. Without proper information as to why, he killed the other man. That man's wife then killed the vampire by putting him into the sun.
So, although there are alot of deaths, am I overkilling this player? I just want to make sure I'm not.

bored
What's odd is that it was actually better than the ones I had as a kid. I wasn't bed ridden except the first day, and then it was mostly conjestion problems. The feeling of needing to sneeze for like 3 hours and not able to sneeze was probably the worst part.
Uhhh other than that I am registering for grad school, am supposed to get my money and uhhhh got a the vampire book.
And Prez, it didn't have much on Caligula, -_- disappointing there, but it did have alot on Nero and some of the other lesser known crazy emperors. I just think it was funny that the Vampire "Church" yes it needs quotes, that in the Modern Book is the all powerful one, is the underdog in the roman book.
Uhh anyways, not much else to say I suppose.

Cheap

Graduate school is less than $2,000 a semester. That's an extremelly cheap Masters program to those who have actually looked at how much graduate schools cost. Ergo a pleasant surprise. I might get away with only being $8,000 in debt by the end of it, which doesn't bother me in the least.
I also checked and no I am not penalized for paying extra into it. Something very important.

On Current Events
Jan. 12th, 2009 | 03:03 am
I know some people have probably listened to the news, and there are a few things happened in Gaza. I just have a few thoughts on it and like to put it out. Agree or disagree with me all you want, but these are a few observations.
1. It's interesting that the groups you'd expect to be protesting up a storm and causing violent action are actually behaving themselves. Protests in Lebanon and the Western Region under the Palastinian authority are actually being peaceful protesters. While the ones misbehaving are the ones who really have no direct stake. Violent protests in Belgium, Pakistan and other places. If the ones directly involved through location are being peaceful, what does that show of the true colors of protesters in the other countries? Just something I observed. Lots of physical attacks, where protests are almost becoming riots.
2. The tragedy that in all honesty this isn't a Palestinian and Isreal issue. It's really a Hamas and Isreal issue. The Palestinians who live in Gaza are really just in the line of fire. And in all reality are a sort of hostage to that group. Hamas isn't duly elected, unlike the Palestinian Authority's Abbas. (I think his name is Abbas)
3. In all reality its a tragedy that 50% of the casualties happen to be innoccent civilians, but can we expect anything less this day and age. Groups like Hamas always use civilians as "human shields" and normally the Western World and it's allies try to avoid hitting them. But, this means that groups like Hamas end up with a brick in the boxing ring while the West normally has both its hands tied behind its back. Eventually a Western power was going to get tired of it and say damn the tying and get the baseball bat. It's a shock for it to finally come, but can we really be that surprised? THe oddity is also that no one denies it's happening, yet yells at Isreal for fighting this way. Even Palestinian refugees have freely admitted and the media has freely admitted (Quite a shock actually) that Hamas will fire mortars and rockets from hospitals and refugee camps. If one side throws the rules of war out the window, can we expect the other to not follow suit? It's not about right or wrong, its about human nature. Ya know?
4. I think it's humorous that people judge other nations really quickly. Isreal invaded Gaza because for the past 2 to 3 years, Gaza has been launching 100 rockets a day into it's southern cities. That's 2,400 rockets. Can you imagine if Mexico decided to launch 100 rockets into the SOuth Western United States every day? We'd stop that in a week. Their patience is actually rather large considering.
5. In all honesty I think it's an act of overreaction from alot, and in all honesty I think the Palestinian authority should have been involved with Isreal so they could get back Gaza. That would have helped alot. THe problem is there are 20,000 Hamas militants in the way. And about 1.4 million Palestinian hostages in Gaza. I don't think that's too big a word for them. Tragic as it may be, well I hope it pans out alright and eventually we can get that solved.
Either way, this wasn't meant as a support or condemnation of anything. It's just what I noticed. I know some people will disagree and argue with me, but ehh just had to get this all organized and on paper as it were. ANYHOO!!

Sorry people, but change is normally not fast in coming if ever. About 10% of a President's promises actually come to fruition and many times those promises are made on things that aren't even within the power of the President's to control. The economy isn't really the president's fault or thanks at all. Even Congress has limitations.
But, this is a wonderful time for the African American people. And in truth for other races too. Affirmative Action is being made illegal in a few states this week, and they were even the more liberal states. Nebraska, California, and Washington have now made it illegal. So what white conservatives had been trying to destroy for three decades happened to be destroyed by a black liberal. Ain't that ironic.
Either way, the Democrats are gloating right now. Acting superior and wallowing in their own selfishness. It's alright, I now get the chance to not have to defend the president, and instead critque every little thing he happens to do. If he wants to use two ply, I can say how wasteful that is and purely rich minded. And like the price of oil will go down when he's president? PFFT!!! The media has already admitted his ideas are unrealistic, and this is the group who worships the ground he walks on.
Anyways, they've already said he's won the same amount as Jimmy Carter, and we all know what happened to Jimmy Carter don't we? So to Democrats everywhere. Congratulations on your victory. Your time of whining is at an end. Now it's our turn to turn the microscope on you. Now it's our turn to make your president age 20 years int he span of 3. Because believe me, he most definetly isn't OUR president. So, enjoy the victory and live in your arrogance that you always have all the solutions and try to get us to cooperate.
SORRY!!! We aren't really inclined to do that. FUnny how you ask for solidarity ONLY when you are in power. So, be prepared for the wonderful turn of events. Because even the media isn't going to be your friend forever, because soon any scandal will sell papers. Welcome to victory, and all the problems that go with it. Enjoy.
If that sounded mean or bitter; I'm not. I was prepared. I honestly am looking forward to not having to defend myself anymore. Now I get to be the attacker. Turn about is fair play after all.

That's the Realism phase of art. That's left out. And I think that it should be left in there as the 19th century was an important time for art not just because of cubism. *NOds*

Ok, once the group arrived at the town, they ran into a rather angry little man with the last name of Black who kept railing at a group who thought his anger happened to be funny. While worried about him, the man said he'd be alright as he disappeared into the night. (I'm not sure this is in the right place.)
After that, Tialeth disappeared, and was found taking care of the baby they'd gotten from the ghost mother and learning about how to care for a child by prostitutes who happened to be under the control of a rather warm woman. (Who also was a doppleganger.)
Tialeth wanted to keep the baby, but Aridream and Regald tried to convince her to put it with someone she could trust and that she would be better for it. They tried rational and other ways of convincing her, but it was Kass who ordered her that "THey were not bringing the child with them." That she finally looked cowed. They gave her the choice of either staying there with the child or continueing with them, and leaving the child behind. SHe was given a night to consider.
She was there without the child, and looking sullen the next morning as they made thier way further down the road. All Kass asked her was did she trust the person she left the child with, and she said she did, in which the conversation was dropped.
On the way they reached a house that appeared destitute and old with large grounds around it. Inside, happened to be a mansion with dozens of objects that looked like people. It was learned later that the sorceress who owned the building happened to have a penchant for turning her servants and others into objects. Most of them were broken, and a dozen books were found. THe mistress herself didn't seem to be at home.
Two survivors were found. A Belgian cook who was found in what looked like a freezer style cabinet, and a letter opener that was capable of being changed back into human form. THis was an Italian slave who had her willpwoer beaten by her drow slavemasters.
Calsundez deposited her on the ship, where the captain happened ot be bathing, and left her in the charge of the big Italian ships cook who happened to be more than happy to take care of her. At least, that's probably what Calsundez said despite the annoyance of trying to deprogram a drow slave. He did agree.
While leaving, two (Bat creatures I forget the name of the species) attacked the group, and the battle raged for a few seconds until Calsundez realized they were good creatures and was able to convince one of the creatures that they might not be evil. THe one who didn't believe argued with his comrade, and eventually both allowed the two to leave.
At that moment they continued towards Edo, where their new cook kept having a suspicious voice that seemed to speak Western Common, but that didn't come from her normal voice. THe ability of her to find supplies without money has disturbed some of the charecters and not others.
On the way, two girls attacked the group in an ambush under orders from Makoto and were killed together, while the group found a shrine behind the attack point.
Inside were two other's who worked with Makoto, but to rid the world of demons. On eheld a spear that disturbed those of outsider blood, and the girl with one eyes happened to drink tea and give out information with a polite drawl.
After this, the march towards Edo arrived and the mission to the Daimyo.
The Daimyo happened to be an Oda Nobuhide, who was about 5 years old with a rather large bodyguard to protect him. He was very polite, and rather nice and thanked them for giving his father's sword back to him. He also gave a special seal that told those in Kyoto to help them if they needed help in the future.
Edo proved a better place. MOst of the Japanese there were less unaccepting of foreigners and most dealt with them as if they were just normal parts of their work. Some even had time for partying; like Regald and Missa. Once again Tialeth disappeared. A note was sent to Missa however, telling her to watch out for a friend who'd worked for the Yakuza as a ninja. ANd was a personal friend of missa's. Calsundez also spent time with the young cook, and took her on a date. Learning she'd taken a few western common words and was able to communicate a little.
After they left, they were ambushed by a Purple WOrm, which attacked them vicously and almost killed Kass. After being freed a tablet with a spell puzzle happened to be read by Missa and coins fell on Kass's foot, causing a rather large argument between the two with Regald trying to be mediator.
After this they continued to walk, one night being awakened by a large squeel and a Razorboard running away with it's tail on fire. Missa heard a child crying, as (I forgot who) got the Razorboards fire out. The boar didn't wait, her and her two babies ran into the other woods.
Regald, smelling someone arrive, saw a girl running and putting a little jewel on the little girl at the center of the magic explosion's head. And chased after her. Regald followed wiht Missa as Aridrem kept heading towards the original spot, and Kass was distracted by ass.
Calsundez stayed in the rear as support and reenforcements if needed.
It was learned after Regald was almost hit by a pair of logs, that the girl was the friend of Missa's who'd disappeared and that she was actually rather cold to Missa, much colder than usual and rather tight fisted with information on the child.
The child herself talked with Aridrem, and was smarter than she appeared, though it was easy to tell her language skills were stunted. After a discussion it came to light that whatever the girl was running form, they would help her.
THe irony with that is left only for the GM to understand and laugh his ass off. ANd bite himself from spilling the beans.
Now the band is outside Kyoto AND THE END OF THIS SCENE OF THE SHOW!!!
WHOO!!!! ^_^
If I forgot anything, please inform me. THis was the best I could do. It has been awhile. *NOds*

Coherent Argument
Sep. 5th, 2008 | 03:01 am
I was shocked this came from the media, but it's a very interesting article on why current hurricanes are so much more distructive than in the past. And no it actually doesn't use "Climate Change" as the reason.
I thought it was very coherent and well thought out and used "Actual studies" and that it put more responcibility on people's heads rather than FEMA's or the governments.
Oh the left is going to hate this article.
So enjoy the read.

But, here was my try and facemanga and such. So.... here we go.
Victoria is my most developed RP charecter of all time. After a year of creating her past, her life, her foibles, and everything else I'm proud to say that I like to keep her as a background person no matter what.
Now.... lets see what my first attempt is like. Cause I wanted to keep it ambigious to what she's currently feeling at the time. ANd such. Yep....
And all the narrow eyes are so freakin small. >_<

Update
Aug. 9th, 2008 | 06:43 pm
Well I figured out how to pay my rent, I got food on my table, and I am borrowing Saiyuki from someone. So... its alright I suppose. Finally got stuff on track for once and am not being crushed under a nervous wreckage I live with on a constant basis, but never reveal. Anyhoo, not trying to be mean, its just normally I always make myself miserable when I am finally feeling good for others misery and this time I am going to enjoy it instead of... well lets not go into that.
